The Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (PM&R) at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill is seeking a full-time physiatrist to provide comprehensive spine and musculoskeletal care. This physician will be expected to provide excellent non-interventional spine care to adults at the UNC Spine Center and general musculoskeletal clinical care at the UNC Center for Rehabilitation Care, where they will also have the opportunity to participate in an integrative medicine program. The physiatrist will work closely with other providers with an emphasis on biomechanical spine rehabilitation and integrative therapeutics. The successful candidate will demonstrate a high level of knowledge of musculoskeletal anatomy and functional spine mechanics to facilitate the recovery of patients with cervical, thoracic, and lumbar spine disorders as well as general musculoskeletal joint dysfunction. They will participate in teaching, research, quality improvement, and administrative activities as associated with an academic appointment and related areas of expertise. Some inpatient call is required. The successful candidate will be board eligible/board certified in PM&R. Specialty training and/or experience in musculoskeletal and integrative medicine is preferred. Expertise with EMG/NCS and diagnostic ultrasound is preferred.
Education and Experience:
The ideal candidate will have excellent interpersonal and communication skills, strong leadership abilities, a record of interdisciplinary collaboration, and have the desire to be involved in enhancing quality of patient care and participating in research studies. Specialty training in musculoskeletal and integrative medicine is preferred.
