Position Summary: We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Assistant Director in the Pharmacy Department. To qualify a Bachelor of Science Degree in Pharmacy from an accredited College of Pharmacy is required, Masters Degree or Doctor of Pharmacy preferred. A valid New York State Pharmacist License and Registration is required. Residency in Hospital Pharmacy Practice preferred. Five (5) years experience in Hospital Pharmacy Management required, Extensive knowledge of Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Excel are preferred. Extensive knowledge of database management and clinical/pharmacy systems preferred. Excellent verbal interpersonal and written communication skills are required.
In this role, the successful candidate is responsible for all operational aspect of pharmacy services. Participates and assists in the management and administration of all areas of the department as needed including development, implementation and administration of all areas of the department as needed including development, implementation and maintenance of policies and procedures and by periodically taking calls. Directly supervises the pharmacy staff.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Serves as a resource to pharmacists, medical and nursing staff.

Participates in all committees/functions required by the organization, including the Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee.
Performs inventory management activities that ensure adequate medication and non-pharmaceutical supplies.
Collaborates in the development of new programs, services, practices of the department.
Maintains awareness of contemporary trends in the profession through the professional literature and regular attendance at professional organization meetings and/or seminars.
Keeps informed of the action, side effects and proper usage of all new drugs as they are made commercially available.
Ensures compliance with federal and state regulations and/or develops policies, procedures and delineates necessary measures to achieve same.
Keeps informed of all local, state and federal laws covering the storage, handling and dispensing of drugs and for interpreting medication orders to determine that it meets all legal requirements.
Oversees the maintenance, implementation and upgrade of automated dispensing machines and other automated/computerized applications as they are obtained.
Evaluates evolving technology and makes recommendations regarding the acquisition of such technology.
Evaluates performance, conducts annual performance and competency assessments, determines disciplinary actions and performs other human resource related actions as needed.
Insures that all legally required records are maintained.
Routinely evaluates current processes to ensure medications are prepared, delivered and administered to patients in an accurate, safe and expeditious manner.
Coordinates and assists in the supervision of the technical activities of staff pharmacists and pharmacy technicians in assigned areas.
Demonstrates knowledge of the organizations Service Standards and incorporates them into the performance duties.
Minimum Qualifications: To qualify you must have a Minimum Qualifications:NYS Pharmacist License and Registration. BS Pharmacy from an accredited College of Pharmacy. 5 years experience in Hospital Pharmacy Management. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Excellent interpersonal skills.
