We are searching for a new postdoctoral fellow to join the Hankenson laboratory at the University of Michigan.
The Hankenson laboratory is part of the Orthopaedic Research Laboratories (ORL), a consortium of faculty members in Orthopaedic Surgery whom are focused on diseases of the skeleton. The ORL hosts the University of Michigan NIAMS P30 Core Center grant and the ORL faculty share 10,000 square feet of laboratory space in the Biomedical Sciences Research Building. The ORL is fully-equipped for cellular and molecular, histological, compositional, and mechanical evaluation of musculoskeletal tissues and cells.
On-going projects that a new postdoctoral fellow could pursue include: studying the role of Notch signaling in bone formation and regeneration; investigating novel regulators of Wnt signaling (R-spondins); and studying the role of thrombospondins and CD47 in bone regeneration.
The ideal candidate for this position will have a PhD, MD, or DVM (or equivalent) and will have extensive experience in cellular and molecular biology (for instance, in primary cell culture, DNA manipulation, cell signaling, and/or DNA-protein interaction).
Additional experience with mutant mice, surgical models, and/or computational biology (analysis of RNAseq and ChIPseq data for instance) is also desirable.
