Saint Louis University, a Catholic, Jesuit institution dedicated to student learning, research, health care and service and The Department of Orthopaedic Surgery of Saint Louis University School of Medicine is seeking a full-time academic pediatric orthopaedic surgeon for an open track appointment with our faculty in the Division of Pediatric Orthopaedic Surgery, located at Cardinal Glennon Children’s Medical Center. The successful candidate will be based at Cardinal Glennon Children’s Medical Center, a full-service pediatric center attached to the main adult hospital and the School of Medicine. Currently, pediatric orthopaedic care is provided by an Orthopaedic Division consisting of four full-time pediatric orthopaedic faculty. This clinically–oriented, full time position emphasizes pediatric orthopaedic services and offers the opportunity to see patients on an inpatient and outpatient basis. Based at the Health Sciences Center campus, all faculty have ample opportunity to be involved in teaching medical students and orthopaedic surgery residents. Fellowship training and ABOS certification/eligibility in orthopaedic surgery are required by appointment start date. Support for this full-time position is provided by Cardinal Glennon Children’s Medical Center, as well as the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery, and includes office space, secretarial support, protected research time and research project seed money. The Department of Orthopaedic Surgery has a fully accredited residency program, which is a six-year educational program with one year (located between the PGY1 and PGY2 levels) dedicated to orthopaedic research. Resources to support research include (but are not limited to) a fully equipped biomedical engineering facility, a full-time PhD bioengineer, a fully equipped cell biology laboratory run by a MD/PhD basic science researcher and an endowment to supply research seed money and support for small projects. Demonstrated academic record of excellence in patient care, teaching and research is desirable. Academic rank and salary will be commensurate with experience and qualifications.
