The Center for Cellular and Molecular Engineering (CCME) in the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position at the Assistant Professor level. The existing Center faculty has strengths in cell and molecular biology, developmental biology, stem cells, gene therapy, biomaterials, microphysiological systems, and tissue engineering and regenerative medicine. We are seeking candidates that can expand our research program to include novel and non-traditional models of regeneration, in particular nonmammalian systems. The focus of the position is in musculoskeletal regeneration, including limb and tail regeneration in amphibians and reptiles. A strong background in the study of stem cell differentiation, .the stem cell niche, cell signaling, and cell-matrix interactions is expected. Successful candidates will also be expected to be leaders of highly interdisciplinary research and perform academic duties associated with our B.S., M.S., Ph.D. and M.D. educational programs. The primary responsibilities include:
Developing and maintaining a nationally and internationally recognized experimental research
Publishing in peer reviewed journals and conference proceedings
Obtaining sponsored funding in support of research programs
Advising and mentoring undergraduate and graduate students
Participating in departmental and university committees
Collaborating in research projects with other faculty from the CCME, as well as with faculty from other departments within the medical school, the university, and the scientific community
Serving the profession through relevant professional activities.
Successful applicants must have a doctorate in a relevant area of science or engineering.
