The Primary Care Sports Medicine Service has 11 primary care sports medicine physicians dedicated to treating athletic injuries of the musculoskeletal system. The primary mission of the Service is to care for active patients and athletes of all levels from elite athletes to patients wanting to initiate or maintain a healthy lifestyle. All members of the service have a role in education and we have a one year accredited fellowship. Our fellow graduates work in academic and community practices and serve as team physicians at the professional, collegiate, and high school levels. The attending physicians work with a number of professional and Olympic teams as well as local and national athletic organizations. The Service has a strong focus on clinical research, led by our research director and research coordinator. On the main campus in Manhattan as well as satellite offices, HSS and the Service offer the latest innovations in rehabilitation, performance, imaging and clinical care.Professional responsibilities include:
Maintain clinical practice as member of the Primary Care Sports Medicine Service
Assist in Primary Care Sports Medicine fellowship in the training of fellows
Pursue involvement in clinical research
Get involved in local and regional sports medicine community endeavors
Potential for team coverage
All other duties as assigned by the Surgeon-in-Chief and Primary Care Sports Medicine Service Chief.
There are a number of opportunities to join our service at the Main HSS campus on the Upper East Side of Manhattan in both urgent care and regular sports practices and our regional site in Westchester County 30 minutes north of Manhattan, opening in 2017.
