We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Plumber Mechanic.
This position is responsible for performing the duties peculiar to and normally required in the trade of plumber, following accepted procedures of the plumbing trade.
Demonstrates knowledge of the organization's Service Standards and incorporates them into the performance of duties as inspect, install, repairs, and replaces pipes, fitting, and all pumping equipment using necessary tool and resting equipment. Operates and repairs all types of pumping equipment such: centrifugal, split casing and suction, vertical vacuum and condensate pumps. Properly align motors, pumps, shafts, gearboxes and couplings. Properly repack pumps seals and change mechanical seals. Responsible for the maintenance and replacement of bearings, shafts compellers on all mechanical equipment throughout the MYULMC. Coordinates seasonal overhaul of equipment with supervisor. Maintains and inspect all Medical Center steam expansion joints. Work with refrigeration engineers to maintain related plant equipment, which will include troubleshooting and repair. Maintains shop inventory to provide adequate supplies to perform continued maintenance of Medical Center. Submits all completed documentation of preventive maintenance to manager, or enter electronically using hand held and work orders to stockroom for input onto database. Capable to using power drills, capable of using small and large measuring tools, capable of using pipe wrenches, adjustable wrenches, vise cutting tools, treat tools and grinders, capable of using wrenches of all sizes. Troubleshoots pumps problems. Capable to install or replace pumps, and of obtaining and retrieving information from catalog in order to order pumps and parts as requested by foreman and management.
Five (5) years experience as a journeyman mechanic in pumps preferred. Trade or vocational school graduation shall reduce the requirement to four (4) years. Must be able to individual lift a minimum of 100 lbs. Also, to be able with assistance, move and transport materials and equipment weighing in excess of 200 lbs. He/she must be able to work in confined areas requiring bending or stooping for long periods. Must have near-visual acuity, depth perception, field vision and color vision are needed in making connections on various types of equipment.
