Cedars Sinai Medical Center Department of 7North has a position available for a Registered Nurse IV 7 North East provides services to patients with a variety of medical diagnosis, pre-operative and post-operative general surgical / musculoskeletal surgery patients and musculoskeletal trauma patients. The most common diagnoses are: pneumonia, wound infection, cellulitis and post R/O MI from telemetry units. The most common general surgical procedures are laparoscopic cholecystectomy, laparoscopic gastroplasty or banding, mastectomy, and colon resection. The most common musculoskeletal diagnosis &/or procedures are fractured hips pre & post surgery, fractured extremities, biopsy & resection bone tumors. 7 North West provides services patients with pre-operative and post-operative musculoskeletal surgery patients and musculoskeletal trauma patients. The most common procedures are Total Joint Replacement, spine surgery and extremity surgery for bone, muscle or tendon problems, diseases or injuries. Special procedures particular to 7 North include, Traction, Compartment monitoring, Casting, Orthopedic Devices (CPM / electric cool ), Auto-transfusion, Epidural continuous infusion, Continuous nerve block infusion, Leech therapy The Clinical Nurse IV (CNIV), is an expert clinician who demonstrates a high level of knowledge and expertise in a specialty as well as general nursing. The CN IV consistently demonstrates excellence in all areas of nursing practice including nursing care delivery, staff education, research, and collaboration. The CNIV manages complex, unpredictable patient care situations and is a nursing leader. She/he serves as a resource to the nursing staff, the unit, the organization, and the community to promote the advancement of nursing. The scope of responsibility, duties and accountability at the facility department and position levels including knowledge and practice of the clinical/technical skills necessary to the position consistent with the Nurse Practice Act. Qualification Requirements/Preferences: Education Certifications/Licensure Experience Physical Abilities Educational, Licenses, Certifications and Other Requirements: -B.S.N. from an accredited school of nursing. -Current and valid registered nurse license from the State of California. -Current and valid Basic Cardiac Life Support certificate from the American Heart Association. -Certification in specialty such as Med/Surg, Orthopedics or other applicable certification. -Full command (written and verbal) of the English language. -Must possess minimum computer competency comprised of a working knowledge of Windows or comparable system specifically including keyboarding and mouse skills and applicable to individual job duties and expectations, employee must demonstrate competency in use of the applications indicated on the competency checklist. -Meets clinical criteria and protocol for CNIV. -Meets specialty specific clinical competencies for assigned clinical nurse level and area. -Working knowledge of applicable Standards of Practice. -Strong and excellent customer service, interpersonal and communication skills. -Knowledgeable and proficient in the use of health care technology within specialty area. -Demonstrates commitment to customer service and an ability to meet the needs and expectations of patients and health care colleagues. Work Experience: -Minimum of five (5) years or more work experience as a Registered Nurse in acute care setting -Minimum three (3) years or more in specialty patient care such as Orthopedic or other specialty. -Minimum three (3) years or more work experience as a supervisor or Charge Nurse work experience.
