The Department of Physical Therapy & Rehabilitation Science seeks exceptional applicants at the associate or full professor level. Outstanding junior faculty applicants will be reviewed. The candidate will direct an integrated and collaborative research program in their specialty area within the Carver College of Medicine and sustain/expand federal extramural support and scholarship. They will mentor student physician scientists, post-doctoral scholars, and pre-doctoral students as well as oversee content expertise within a highly ranked Rehabilitation Science and Physical Therapy curriculum. The candidate will collaborate with medical specialists, engineers, public health officials, basic scientists, and health science experts within the University and throughout the country through multi-center collaborations. They will alslo serve on selected committees within the department, college, university, and nation.
All applicants must have a relevant doctoral degree and a record of accomplishment commensurate with appointment as Associate Professor with Tenure, Professor with Tenure, or Assistant Professor in the Tenure Track. Outstanding junior faculty candidates will be reviewed and evaluated on their potential. Candidates will be judged on their level of accomplishment in area of expertise, their excellent track record with outstanding levels of current funding, and demonstrated excellence in building succsesful collaborative research teams. Applicants must have a distinguished level of accomplishment in one or more areas related to 1) Biomechanics/Neuro-musculoskeletal Plasticity/Human Performance with expertise in Human Movement Analysis; 2) Human Health and Activity expertise with a focus on Aging, Metabolism, Diabetes, and/or Cognitive Function with expertise in Epidemioogy, Molecular, or Energy Expenditure Analysis. Both positions require either current expertise or demonstrated plans to translate work through Controlled Clinical Trials. Applicants should have an excellent track record with outstanding levels of current funding and demonstrated excellence in building successful collaborative research teams.
