Specific Responsibilities: Clinical care which may include inpatient and outpatient care depending on faculty interests, education, research, administrative time with on-call responsibilities in rotation with other faculty. This is a unique opportunity, providing collaboration with Orthopedics, and other primary care sports medicine physicians in Pediatrics and Internal Medicine. Primary care clinical responsibilities include a blend of patient care and teaching, and active participation in the Sports Medicine Programs, providing comprehensive care to the University of Iowa student athletes and event coverage. Teaching responsibilities include participating in the education of medical students, primary care residents, and sports medicine fellows. Research responsibilities include actively pursuing and participating in scholarly projects as well as mentoring residents, fellows, and other faculty in these endeavors.
The UI Sports Medicine Facility is a comprehensive, multi-disciplinary sports medicine center housing orthopedics, primary care, physical therapy, athletic training, x-ray, MRI and musculoskeletal ultrasound all in one location.
Candidates must have completed an Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) accredited Family Medicine Residency Program and be Board Certified in Family Medicine.
All candidates must have completed a one year fellowship in Sports Medicine.
All candidates must have successfully completed or be eligible for the CAQ (Certificate of Added Qualification) in Sports Medicine.
Candidates must have an interest in developing a clinical practice, engaging in research endeavors, and participating as teaching faculty in our resident/fellowship education programs.
Candidates must be clinically active.
Licensed or eligible for licensure in the State of Iowa.
Candidates with a strong background in caring for female athletes and with interest in developing a comprehensive women's health program are strongly desired.
