We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Director-Respiratory Care. To qualify a New York State Respiratory Therapist License (NBRC-RRT credential) required. Bachelors Degree in Respiratory Care, Cardio-Respiratory Sciences or related area, Masters Degree in Respiratory Care, health care/hospital administration, or related discipline preferred. Fifteen (15) – twenty (20) years full-time experience in all phases of respiratory care including ten (10) years of clinical experience in hospital based, acute respiratory care, five (5) – ten (10) years full-time respiratory care clinical management experience at least one (1) – three (3) years which includes significant pulmonary and/cardiopulmonary laboratory management experience. NBRC Perinatal/Pediatric, CPFT specialty credential preferred. BCLS certification required. Demonstrated proficiency with all standard forms of respiratory care equipment and techniques including mechanical ventilation, arterial blood gas determination, and pulmonary function testing. Excellent verbal and written communication skills; proficiency with word processing, spreadsheet, database, and clinical research computer programs.
In this role, the successful candidate serves as administrative head and technical Director of Respiratory Care Department with responsibility for planning, organizing, coordinating, integrating and directing the administrative and operational activities associated with providing Respiratory Care, and diagnostic Pulmonary Function testing services. Qualified candidates must be able to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization.
Oversees Non-Invasive Cardiology.
Oversees coordination for respiratory support in the hospital-based rheumatology; Article 25 sites, e.g. 23rd Street ACS and C4C.
Take part in committees: Hospital-wide Interdisciplinary Adult and Pediatric Resuscitation Committees, Safety Committee, EOC Committee, Interdisciplinary Patient Care Committee.
Oversees equipment such as Cardio Pulmonary Arrest/Procedure Carts, Intubation Boxes.
Supports the Rapid Response Team.
Ensures Respiratory Care Department compliance with applicable JCAHO, federal, state, administrative and professional requirements related to provision of comprehensive clinical and diagnostic respiratory care and pulmonary function testing services.
Develops, updates, and ensures implementation of policies and procedures necessary and incidental to the safe and effective delivery of comprehensive clinical and diagnostic respiratory care and pulmonary function testing services.
Ensures coordination of respiratory care / pulmonary function testing services with other clinical and non-clinical departments throughout the hospital.
Ensures that an adequate supply and maintenance of appropriate and safe equipment necessary and incidental to the provision of respiratory care / pulmonary function testing services at the hospital is available at all times.
Provides coordination for, and general supervision of, subordinate respiratory care / pulmonary function testing staff.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Monitors and initiates all activities and processes related to CPR, moderate sedation and endoscopy.
