Saint Louis University, a Catholic, Jesuit institution dedicated to student learning, research, health care and service and The Department of Orthopaedic Surgery of Saint Louis University School of Medicine is seeking a full-time academic foot and ankle orthopaedic surgeon for an open track appointment with our faculty in the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery, located at Saint Louis University School of Medicine. The successful candidate will be based at Saint Louis University Hospital and our practice located at Saint Mary's Hospital. This clinically–oriented, full time position will specialize in the medical and surgical treatment of injuries, diseases, and other conditions of the foot and ankle. The position offers the opportunity to see patients on an inpatient and outpatient basis. In addition, all faculty have ample opportunity to be involved in teaching medical students and orthopaedic surgery residents. The depth in department sub-specialties provides opportunities to become involved in research in a variety of areas, including biomechanics, sports, and adult reconstruction. Fellowship training and ABOS certification/eligibility in orthopaedic surgery are required by appointment start date. Support for this full-time position is provided by the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery, and includes office space, secretarial support, annual funds for Continuing Medical Education. The Department of Orthopaedic Surgery has a fully accredited residency program, which is a six-year educational program with one year (located between the PGY1 and PGY2 levels) dedicated to orthopaedic research. Resources to support research include (but are not limited to) a fully equipped biomedical engineering facility, a full-time PhD bioengineer, a fully equipped cell biology laboratory run by a MD/PhD basic science researcher and an endowment to supply research seed money and support for small projects. Demonstrated academic record of excellence in patient care, teaching and research is desirable. Academic rank and salary will be commensurate with experience and qualifications.
