Under supervision, will assist with pre and post-operative animal care procedures with small and large animals for Orthopaedics Muscle Physiology Laboratory. Schedule and maintain computerized pre- and post-operative records and data collection. Assist with renewing and writing protocols and adding/maintaining personnel listed on protocols. Order and maintain animal and laboratory supplies, and assist in laboratory experiments.
Demonstrated experience caring for small and large animals in a conscientious and compassionate manner.
Strong knowledge of word processing and computer software (MS Excel, MS Word)in a MAC or PC environment and ability to maintain computerized records and data collection.
Demonstrated ability to work with students, staff, residents, veterinarians and faculty.
College level coursework or knowledge of biology or molecular biology.
Knowledge of general laboratory safety procedures.
Demonstrated ability to communicate orally and in writing.
Demonstrated organizational skills. Ability to coordinate multiple tasks and assignments.
Knowledge of EH&S policies and procedures for hazardous waste handling.
Experience/knowledge of Macintosh computer systems.
Knowledge of UCSD/EH&S procedures for laboratory safety.
Experience/knowledge of aseptic techniques.

Evening and Weekend Hours required to maintain/complete experiments.
