Do you have a desire to disrupt current EHS practices and truly augment and extend human cognitive, physical, sensory, or other capabilities to prevent injuries and enhance organizational performance? Have you ever wanted to be a leader or be part of revolutionary projects that you read about other organizations doing? Do you want to solve the problems of today with the solutions of the future, and predict future problems before they occur? Do you believe that science, technology and a passion for excellence can drive significant reduction in incidents through reducing human error, optimizing physical capability, and enhancing health, comfort, safety, effectiveness and efficiency in the workplace? Now is the time to step forward and join our World Wide Environment, Health and Safety Strategy and Innovation team. We are looking for a Human Factors Engineer to drive leveraging science and technology (either together or separate!) to maximize EHS operational performance and protect our associates. You must be innovative and think outside of the traditional paradigm for enhancing human performance and human interface with equipment to prevent injury. You will be leader in your field with an entrepreneurial mindset who can develop new and innovative strategies for physical, physiological and psychological resilience and enhanced performance as well as the interface with design of equipment; you will be a thought leader who also develops and executes leading edge concepts such as use of surveillance markers for predicting incidents before they occur, or defining patterns which lead to lead to higher probability of injury, or mitigating the impact of insufficient sleep and fatigue on injury causation. You will tackle key issues like musculoskeletal disorders, forklift incidents, chemical exposures, falls etc either as the lead or in a support function to drive making our workplaces safer. You will also be able to demonstrate a true passion for new and emerging technology with the ability to conceptualize novel applications to benefit intended and unintended end-users, and the confidence to challenge assumptions, conventions, and the status quo in terms of what could be possible. Your role will be worldwide, which will drive significant improvements across all our businesses and geographies in reducing EHS incidents and improving performance. You will need to be able to travel both within USA and internationally.
Responsibilities The ideal candidate shall: · Initiate, formulate, and develop multi-disciplinary/stakeholder projects targeting EHS incident reduction utilizing your scientific expertise in human factors engineering, psychophysics, physical and psychological interface, fatigue, and cognitive function etc. · Apply theoretical principles into real life complex problems using modeling, data and other methods to design to optimize well-being and overall performance which directly influences reduction of high frequency or high severity EHS incidents. · Take a systems approach, therefore considers the broader context of the human in the environment even when focusing on a specific type of interaction and intervention. · Be design driven, using data analysis and assessment to provide realistic recommendations and actions. · Focuses on performance and wellbeing, which includes efficiency and effectiveness and health and safety. · Research and collect background and historical multi-source information specific to topical areas using both internal data sources along with being actively aware of external trends. · Be passionate about using data to facilitate and drive business decisions. You will identify key EHS incident trends through deep dive analysis (including statistical modelling) and establish testable project hypotheses. · Develop or implement human factors and performance research, investigation, or analysis protocols. · Develop programmatic plans to conduct pilot projects in the field, including device/equipment test & evaluation. · Work across multiple teams such as operations, technology designers and engineers to analyze and evaluate data, conduct Human Factors evaluations, and generate concepts, design specifications, and usability goals. · Develop white papers, at executive level, which outline proposed pilot projects, along with post pilot evaluation reports.
