We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Short Order Cook in the Food & Nutrition Department. To qualify a High School Diploma or equivalent is required. Minimum of one (1) year of cooking experience as a Cooks Helper in a high volume health care institution or commercial establishment with a large volume of food service experience is required. Knowledgeable in portion control, forecasting procedures, ingredients, and HACCP and follow this in all operations required. Must be able to follow written and verbal instructions. The ability to lift, 50 lbs. work with heavy kitchen equipment and the ability to bend, reach, move and stand for long periods of time. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills required.
In this role, the successful candidate will be responsible for performing work of moderate difficulty in the preparation of various menu items which involves a variety of cooking operations as instructed by the immediate supervisor including but not limited to: Prepares breakfast items as well as any cooked-food items. Sets up and prepares work area and equipment for use in food production. Works well with all levels of staff. Maintains customer service by establishing a good rapport and professional working relationship with customers. Qualified candidates must be able to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization.
Prepares breakfast items and vegetables as well as any other cooked-food items, as designatedSets up assigned work area by collecting and assembling food and supplies needed to complete duties. Sets up and prepares equipment for use in food production. Follows proper cooking procedures in accordance with the standardized recipe cards and the supervisors instructions to produce a uniformed product. Implements procedures necessary to satisfy all customer/patient dietary restrictions. Garnishes the food properly.
Utilizes all types of kitchen equipment to prepare foodUses the appropriate following equipment: griddles, grills, ovens, deep-fat fryers, slicers, choppers, steamers, steam kettles, tilt fry kettles, mixers, robo coup, and miscellaneous small equipment such as knives, paddles, whips, etc. for proper preparation of food. Uses the appropriate equipment for the proper preparation and service of food.
Follows established departmental sanitation standardsFollows HACCP code compliance, and all food safety standards.Applies correct sanitary procedures.
Attends meetings and in-services for food production employeesAssures management of attendance at meeting & in-services by signing attendance sheet. Is aware and understands material and instructions given.
