The Department of Kinesiology in the Faculty of Applied Health Sciences at the University of Waterloo is seeking an exceptional scholar and researcher for a tenure track position at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor in the area of Work and Health. The Department of Kinesiology is an inter-disciplinary department with a focus on optimizing health, preventing injury and illness, and extending the years of high quality life through understanding the cellular to societal implications of physical activity, nutrition and lifestyle. The department offers B.Sc., M.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees in Kinesiology. Further information about the department can be found at the Department of Kinesiology: http://uwaterloo.ca/kinesiology/. The successful candidate must have a PhD or MD with evidence of an active research program within the broader area of Work and Health to complement the Department of Kinesiology’s existing strengths. We encourage applications from individuals across a range of possible disciplines and research themes focused on Work and Health. Potential areas of focus, though not exclusive, include: workplace health and wellness, organizational and industrial psychology, cognitive ergonomics, illness and injury prevention, workplace health promotion, return-to-work, vulnerable/at risk populations or workplace policies and practices. Duties include research, teaching at the undergraduate and graduate level, and supervising graduate students.

Successful candidates are expected to have a strong portfolio of scholarly research, including peer-reviewed publications, and provide evidence of potential for excellence in teaching and obtaining external funding. In addition to advancing a personal research program, candidates will have the opportunity to work as part of a multidisciplinary team engaged in research related to Work and Health. Collaborative opportunities exist not only within the Department of Kinesiology but also within the Faculty of Applied Health Sciences and across the University of Waterloo and its multiple research centers, such as the Centre of Research Expertise for the Prevention of Musculoskeletal Disorders (CRE-MSD), Centre for Mental Health Research, Centre for Community, Clinical and Applied Research Excellence (CCCARE) and the Schlegel-UW Research Institute for Aging (RIA).
Additional Salary Information: The salary range for this position at the rank of Assistant Professor is $78,000 - $99,000. The salary range for this position at the rank of Associate Professor is $99,000 - $130,000. Actual starting salary will be commensurate with rank of appointment, qualifications, experience and research record. Negotiations beyond this salary range will be considered for exceptionally qualified candidates.
