Research Lab Manager - SRA III Salary Range: $1988.80 to $3199.20 Bi-weekly Final Filing Date: Open Until Filled
Responsibilities Under general supervision of Vice Chair of Research and Chief Administrative Officer, the Orthopaedic Surgery Research Lab Manager (Staff Research Associate III) will support faculty, residents, and students in conducting orthopaedic research projects by contributing to the following: study design; design, select, and assist with manufacturing experimental mechanical fixtures; develop protocols for and maintain laboratory equipment; troubleshoot and resolve problems; instruct and supervise faculty, residents and students in use of equipment; ensure compliance with lab protocols and safety standards, policies and procedures. The incumbent will assist faculty, residents, and students in performing complex data gathering and analysis. This role serves to assist with conducting meaningful orthopaedic research aimed at discovering new orthopaedic practices to improve patient care.
Qualifications REQUIRED: • Master's degree in Biomedical Engineering/Bioengineering, Mechanical Engineering, Molecular and Cellular Biology, and related fields or combination of education and experience. • Prior experience as a Research Associate or similar. • Experience and ability to perform biomechanical testing. • Experience with research involving animal studies, with capability of animal handling, including but not limited to animal surgery and anesthesia. • Substantial experience working with research procedures, including writing protocols (BUA and IACUC). • Experience with research results reporting and research-focused publications. • Expertise with data analysis and reporting.
PREFERRED: • Knowledge of orthopedic and biomechanical research, including procedures and methods. • Experience with, or ability to learn, machining and computer aided drafting/design programs.

Occasional travel to national and society meetings.
