Program Director: Associate or Senior Scientist Tenure-Track Faculty Position
Translational Bone Research
The Hospital for Special Surgery, affiliated with Weill Cornell Medicine, is recruiting a translational laboratory-based scientist (PhD or MD-PhD) in bone biology. The ideal candidate will have expertise in the cell and molecular biology of bone cells and analysis of in vivo bone phenotypes in models relevant to orthopaedics. This individual will serve as a Program Director and provide leadership in developing an integrated translational research program involving biologists, engineers, pathologists, clinical investigators, clinicians and surgeons that addresses the most important clinical problems in orthopaedics and musculoskeletal medicine, using animal models and drawing upon the large clinical volume at our institution to study human patients and samples. Opportunities for collaboration include interactions with basic scientists working in musculoskeletal and inflammation research at HSS and Weill Cornell Medicine, and engineers at HSS and the Cornell University College of Engineering.
The Hospital for Special Surgery is affiliated with and adjacent to Weill Cornell Medical College and embedded in a vibrant research environment encompassing Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center and Rockefeller University. HSS holds two NIH T32 training grants, and participates in the WCM CTSC and various quad-institutional research centers and supporting core facilities. The individual will be eligible for tenure and is expected to qualify for a joint appointment as Associate or Full Professor at adjacent Weill Cornell Medicine and will interface with other basic and translational research programs at HSS and Cornell University. A track record of achievement in bone biology or related fields, as evidenced by high quality publications and sustained extramural funding, is required. A competitive start-up, benefit, and relocation package will be offered. Interested applicants should email a curriculum vitae and a brief description of research experience to Dr. Lionel Ivashkiv, Chief Scientific Officer, Hospital for Special Surgery at firstname.lastname@example.org .
