The brand new 2-story facility is located at 7500 Challis in Brighton, MI. What skills will you master?
Our Medical Assistants in the CMC (Comprehensive Musculoskeletal Center) will specialize in areas that no other department offers, and we are excited to help you grow your skills. You will work with a multidisciplinary team caring for joints, bones, and muscles in a fast paced outpatient setting. In addition to working in these specialized areas, you will be responsible for performing patient intakes, preparing patients for procedures, medication administration, and prescription management. You will also take patient vital signs, administer injections, perform EKGs, assist in simple diagnostic tests and procedures, assist with applying and removing casts, collect specimens, sterilize/clean equipment, stock supplies, set up instruments/supplies in exam and treatment rooms, schedule patient visits, manage inbasket requests, and provide information to patients as directed.
This position will work with both adult and pediatric patients, and will float within the following departments on a day to day basis:
Anesthesiology (Back and Pain)
Orthopaedics and Sports Medicine
Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation
We do require that you have a High school diploma or GED
You are required to have either graduated from a Medical Assistant program OR have an equivalent combination of education and experience
Some office experience is necessary.
Knowledge of basic medical terminology is necessary.
Ability to communicate effectively.
Demonstrated active listening, written, verbal, and information technology skills.
1 - 3 years of experience
0-1 year of experience.
You will be required to do some moderate standing and walking, as well as lift, position, push, and/or transfer patients.
Certification as an MA
Experience working within a large, complex healthcare system.
Familiarity with Michigan Medicine's electronic medical record systems.
Knowledge of university policies & procedures.
Additional formal education in a health care field is desired for the associate level.
What will your work schedule look like?
The facility is open 7:00 AM – 6:00 PM Monday through Friday, and 7:00 AM – 12:00 PM on Saturday. We are flexible in scheduling, and request that you are also flexible in working various shifts.
Based on qualifications and department need, this position can be filled as a Medical Assistant or Medical Assistant Associate.
As part of the orientation training process, your training will be held at multiple locations during your first few months of the employment.
