The Taubman Orthopaedic Surgery outpatient clinic has an opening for an experienced, self-motivated, team orientated medical assistant/associate.
This position will perform patient support tasks including but not limited to rooming, vitals, updating electronic medical record, submitting x-ray orders, processing patient report outcome surveys, form completion, inbasket tasks, authorizations for tests/procedures or medications, retrieve prior medical history, printing pertinent information for providers and supporting in-clinic procedures, (suture/staple removal, sterile field for joint injections, wound care), pre-calling scheduled patients to confirm appointment and may perform the duties of a scribe in the future.
This position will support faculty and advance practice providers within the scope of a medical assistant.
The successful candidate will be required to actively participate in the department’s Lean initiatives, Service Excellence programs, maintain M-learning compliance, specific procedure competencies and knowledge of regulatory agency requirements.
Medical Assistant Associate: High School Diploma or GED; graduation from a Medical Assistant program or an equivalent combination of education and 1-3 years of work related work experience.
Medical Assistant: High School Diploma or GED; graduation from a Medical Assistant program or an equivalent combination of education and 0-1 years of work related work experience.
Minimum requirements for both titles
Six months previous experience working in an ambulatory or acute care setting knowledge of basic medical terminology; moderate standing/walking, as well as, lifting, positioning, pushing and/or transferring patients; will have demonstrated exceptional interpersonal communication skills, superior customer service, an exemplary attendance record, the ability to manage stress effectively, a superior work ethic and handle multiple responsibilities. The candidate must be proficient using the Microsoft suite products with a typing speed of 50 wpm.
Previous experience working in Orthopaedics or with MiChart/Epic care/Cadence as well as knowledge of University policies and procedures is helpful.
Work Shift: Work schedules may change based on clinic needs. We utilize flex scheduling to off-set hours worked in excess in any one day.
This position may be underfilled at a lower classification depending on the qualifications of the selected candidate.
This position will be supervised by the MA Specialist Senior and report to the Clinic Manager.
