In collaboration with the shoulder surgeons, multidisciplinary team, and the department clinical administrator conduct continual monitoring and evaluation of effectiveness and operations of the orthopedic shoulder service providing coverage inpatient, in clinics and the OR/ASC. Assist with identification and implementation of process improvement projects and service line advancements in order to improve patient outcomes and decrease complications. Assist with implementation of methods to capture appropriate billing/coding documentation in the EMR.
Supervise the care delivered. Perform /order medical diagnostic, therapeutic procedures, and prescribe, dispense or deliver medications under a collaborative practice agreement. Consult/collaborate with other care team members. Use judgment to apply/adopt information within total clinical picture to address health issues. Influence others to adopt best practices.
Complete patient medical records, reports, and forms to record treatment for treatment record and billing purposes. Improve quality of care by performing chart reviews and participating on performance improvement committees.
Provide health education to patients and medical education to health professions students and residents. Participate in ongoing research and professional development of self and other staff.
Establish and maintain procedures and systems to assure staff compliance with policies and standards of care. Initiate corrective action as needed. Serve on committees to enhance patient care and operations. Assure team provides effective collaboration/communications. May provide feedback and coaching to other team members to assure quality of specialized care. Hire, develop and manage the performance of staff. May have budget responsibilities for unit supervised.
