Position Summary: We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Patient Education Coordinator.
The patient education coordinator, assesses and analyzes learning needs of patients; plans, implements and evaluates educational activities and resources that support the health of patients; participates in the development, supports implementation, and provides education and reinforcement of nursing and patient care standards, evidence based practice and nursing research; maintains clinical expertise in a specialty area; demonstrates and fosters collaborative relationships within the Departments of Nursing and other disciplines; participates in Departments of Nursing and hospital committees as appointed or requested. Under the supervision of the Manager of the Pre-Admission Testing Unit.
Minimum Qualifications: To qualify you must have a Licensure: Current Registered Professional Nurse in the State of New York; Education: Master's Degree in nursing or health-related field required with focus on health education preferred; Experience: Three to five years of clinical experience in a specialty area, or combination of staff nurse/leadership experience in the specialty area. Excellent skills in the following areas: verbal and written communication, critical thinking, creativity, interpersonal relationships and team building; change management; Demonstrates knowledge base in professional nursing and evidence based practice; participatory leadership, continuous learning environment, current issues and trends in nursing practice, nursing education and development; the Components of Magnetism. Participation in pertinent professional organizations and professional specialty organizations; Physical stamina, manual dexterity, visual and aural acuity to perform responsibilities
Preferred Qualifications: Certification in relevant clinical area
