Essential Functions: The Department of Biomedical Engineering (BME) at Wayne State University (WSU) invites applications for a Research Assistant/Research Associate position (Full Time or Fractional time) in tissue engineering and regenerative medicine. The main focus of the multi-disciplinary research project is to develop and characterize implant surface coating and ceramic bone graft substitutes directed by Dr. Weiping Ren. Our Laboratory is located in the Detroit VA Medical Center and new integrative Bioscience Center (iBio) in midtown Detroit which is dedicated to research, discovery and knowledge application across a range of biomedical sub disciplines.Molecular and biological assays (real time PCR, cell proliferation, cell toxicity, differentiation)Cell culture Bacterial culture Molecular imaging (ultrasound, microCT and MRI) in rodent animals.Implementing and developing software solutions for data collection, storage, management and analysis.Trouble-shootings and equipment maintenance.Collaboration with colleagues in biomedical engineering, orthopaedic surgery, materials science and mechanical engineering. Able to write or assist in writing scientific papers, reports, and grant applications.Management of the laboratory ordering and cleanliness.Perform data analysis and Write manuscripts
Qualifications: B.S. or M.S is required for Research Assistant and Ph.D. is required for Research Associate.
