The Penn Center for Musculoskeletal Disorders at the University of Pennsylvania is seeking an individual to fill a full-time Research Specialist B position. The candidate will perform standard histology of paraffin- and plastic-embedded tissues and bioengineered scaffolds, including processing of samples, sectioning (including cryo-sectioning), as well as chemical and immunohistochemical staining. Perform histomorphometry using commonly used software. Provide general laboratory safety and quality control, ordering of supplies, and regular accounting of services provided through the Histology Core of the Penn Center for Musculoskeletal Disorders. Perform minor equipment maintenance. Working knowledge of light and fluorescence microscopy is required. The successful candidate will be able to perform complex projects with minimal faculty oversight, technology development and troubleshooting, as well as independently manage daily projects.
