Full Time 40 hours Grade 077 Ctr Musculoskeletal Research Schedule 8:30 AM-5 PM Responsibilities POSITION SUMMARY: This is a position that requires diverse background and a modest level of independence. Basic skills in protein chemistry, immunology, cell culture (mammalian and bacterial) and at least some animal handling are highly desired, but can be taught. Good interpersonal skills are essential as this individual will be working closely with and in support of multiple graduate students and post-docs. Excellent writing skills and facility with professional data manipulation software are also highly desired, but training can be provided. Time will be split between support roles on pre-existing projects and small individual projects. TYPICAL DUTIES: Breed, maintain, and genotype mice for multiple projects, and perform surgical procedures for the support of ongoing research projects Antibody purification Mammalian cell culture, including hybridoma creation and maintenance, and specialized cell cultures Isolation and analysis of RNA and protein from cell cultures via real time quantitative PCR and Western blotting, respectively. Maintenance of a detailed lab notebook with experimental detail, methods, data compilation and data analysis and interpretation included. QUALIFICATIONS: Associate's degree in appropriate discipline plus 2-3 years specialized experience in related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Two years of experience with mouse work and cell culture is preferred.
