The Department of Orthopaedic Surgery Center and the Cellular and Molecular Engineering (CCME) at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine is recruiting a full-time faculty member at the Research Instructor level, nontenure.
Responsibilities include a research focus on the response of adult human stem cells to their physical substrates and the application of stem cells and biomaterial scaffolds in tissue engineering and repair, presentation of research progress and findings at national and international conferences, authoring informative and original manuscripts for publication in peer-reviewed journals, and success in obtaining external research funding support. The Research Instructor will take part in stem cell derivation and characterization, biomaterial scaffold fabrication, and activation and modulation of stem cells to enhance and direct their bioactivity for effective tissue regeneration.
Minimum requirements: candidate must possess a doctoral degree in the biological sciences or other closely related degree. Previous experience in biomaterials and stem cell biology is highly preferred.
Starting date 9/1/17. Salary commensurate with experience.
